inspiration to get your creative side really working!
The courses are arranged in half day sessions allowing
time for you to relax, work on or explore the area in the afternoon.
Courses are kept small so you can advance at a rate which will astonish
you! Many of our students are complete beginners, so don't feel daunted
as our aim is to instruct and help you enjoy the magical world of art
in a relaxed, non-competitive atmosphere.
MOSAIC COURSES IN ITALY

want to learn the basic notions (theory and practice) of the ancient
Roman-Byzantine technique.
TECHNIQUES

- explore various mosaic styles
- understand installation procedure (adhesive & grout)
Mosaic Pictures
in Glass will also feature, this technique enabling
you to transpose any picture you wish into a mosaic design to be framed

THE MOSAIC OF OTRANTO
Discover the exceptional mosaic floor (one of the most fabulous gems
of mediaeval art in Europe) in the cathedral in Otranto: during the
course students will admire its magnificent 11th-century mosaic floor
representing the “Tree of Life.” Marked by rich, vibrant
colors and extraordinarily expressive biblical figures, the mosaic
contains a collection of characters and motifs as that intensely Christian
world could ever have conceived: featuring Alexander the Great, King
Arthur, elephants, trees of life, mermaids, and the Queen of Sheba,
among others, with inscriptions in Greek, Latin and Arabic. This stunning
masterpiece is sure to leave a lasting impression.
Our students' impressions:
"I guess the highlight of our visit was the
sight of the exquisite mosaic floor in the cathedral in Otranto. It
must be one of the world's finest hidden treasures. We visited the
cathedral on the last day of our course, and it was a thrill to find
how much of the Italian commentary we could follow."

skill for the decorations of Baroque buildings. Today, the stone is
