COURSES ABOUT ITALIAN CINEMA
 The
course is designed for those students who love Italian cinema.
The course will examine some aspects of the Italian
cinema with reference to the problems and social features of contemporary
Italy, literature and other visual arts and with a viewing and stylistic
analyses of important scenes.
Cinema and Society in Contemporary Italy
through the presentation and analysis of a specific movement (Neo-realism,
Comic cinema, Comedy, Italian style) or director (Fellini, Rossellini,
De Sica, Pasolini, Antonioni, Bertolucci, Ferreri, Risi, Bolognini, Monicelli,
Comencini, Salvatores, Tornatore, Moretti, Benigni, Pieraccioni).
Mediterranean Society and Culture (art,
cinema, literature, folklore: through the anthropological analysis of
the typical folk dance called PIZZICA).
If you are interested in a particular topic of Italian
cinema you can suggest it to your teacher. You can propose the presentation
and analysis of a specific movement or figure or the presentation and
analysis of a particular film.
Starting dates: every 2 weeks
Duration: 1 or more weeks;
Lessons:
- 20 hours plus 5 hours in mini-groups or individual of Italian cinema
course per week
- 20 hours plus 10 hours in mini-groups or individual of Italian cinema
course per week

First of all thankyou so much once again for a wonderful course - such interesting conversation and then the course on Italian film. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and I learnt so much - not only about the techniques and characteristic styles of the directors studied, but also the culture, history and politics of the day which provide the context in which the films were developed. The course has definitely inspired me to look at films with a more critical eye and a deeper understanding and I look forward now to watching all the other Italian films that have been recommended to me. A thoroughly enjoyable course and I would have no hesitation in recommending this to anyone who is at all interested in films.
I had a good flight back, but straight back to Winter weather - extremely cold! What a contrast to the sunshine in Otranto! And straight back to work!
