Levels of Knowledge

Language classes are offered at all levels, from those students who are just beginning to those with a more advanced comprehension of the language.
Students will be tested on arrival and placed at suitable level.

Elementary level: acquisition of the ability to communicate in Italian and to elaborate simple information; acquisition of the general dictionary and the use of basic grammatical constructions.

Intermediate level: acquisition of the ability to face daily situations and to express opinions through the consolidation of grammar and the dictionary.

Advanced level (level of specialization): acquisition of the three fundamental abilities of language: listening, oral production and writing to express fluently own opinions about complex subjects.

Excellent: level of specialization: analysis and study of the different forms of the written and oral language; lessons focusing on the most important aspects of literature, culture and Italian civilization.

INTENSIVE ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE

Italian language courses in Italy at school Porta d'Oriente

Duration: 2 to 24 weeks. The 4 lessons are held daily from Monday to Friday, usually beginning at 9am. Some lessons are can be held in the afternoon.

PRIVATE TUITION

If you want to attend a course that suits your particular professional and personal requirements and your time schedule, you can choose our private tuition programme.

Continual language practice, maximum concentration through an intensive work with your personal teacher and, especially, active practising of your communication skills guarantee your swift progress and success in the shortest possible time.

We are able to suit your private tuition programme to your wishes regarding dates and areas of interest.

The number of daily lessons can be decided by the students.

The private tuition is from absolute beginner to advanced level.

You can plan your programm and your time schedule with your teacher.

INTENSIVE-PLUS ITALIAN LANGUAGE COURSE

The Intensive-Plus Course consists of 4 lessons Standard Course per day in the morning and 2 extra lessons of group language course in the afternoon. Or you can choose 4 lessons Intensive Course in group and 1 individal lesson. In the afternoon they will be introduced to art and culture, history and folklore, press and films as well as the current political and economical situation of Italy.

Duration: from 2 to 24 weeks
Lessons: 6 per day, 30 per week; or 4 group lessons and 1 indiviadual lesson

Courses always have a direct link with external reality. What happens in town, the region and the country must be announced during the lessons. All individual external experiences provide material for the lessons, a systematic work according to the principles of the applied linguistics. The content of teaching and of the cultural activities are therefore in direct link with:

all aspects of life of the town and the region;
training, choices and objectives, as well as, their sensitive, creative, artistic, intellectual and cultural reactions.

Comprehension will be facilitated by the use of authentic audiovisual supports, films, radio broadcasts and television and the use of multimedia programs;

Reading will be deepened by newspapers, professional documents, literary texts;

Conversation will be improved by debates, round table discussions and role-play;

Writing will be improved by the production of texts with a precise communication perspective according to the different levels.

Each course lasts for a minimum of 2 weeks up to a maximum of 12 months. Each level follows its own grammar and linguistic program.

The registration fee and the price of the course includes:

-initial test and interview and certificate of attendance

-course materials: (book and photocopies on different subjects will be distributed, according to the program and the participant's needs)

-the use of the multimedia laboratory and audio-visual supports (on request)

-extra-curricular cultural and recreational activities as well as the guided tour of Otranto; ONLY ON REQUEST: breakfast with the tutors, contacts with the personalities of the social, economic and cultural life of the town, weekly projections of the most famous Italian films, music; exchanges with Italian students to improve conversation.

-1 hour=50 minutes

-Enrollment fee: Euro 70

-If there should be only one participants for a certain course/level, the tuition cost will be converted to 1,30 h of one-to-one lesson. The intensive course will be converted in 2,30 h of one-to-one lesson. In the event that there will be only 2 or 3 students for a particular level, the number of hours will be reduced by 1 hour per day. -The special courses, the cooking course, Diploma CILS course and the courses for Italian teachers will be activated also with a minimum number of students (1/2).
